10x13 Antique Persian Serapi-Heriz
Serapi is a trade name given to higher quality versions of Heriz rugs thought to have been woven before the 1900s; these rugs are commonly referred to as Serapi-Heriz. Heriz is a city located in northwestern Iran, it sits at the center of one of the weaving districts within Azerbaijan.
Serapi-Heriz rugs have a very distinct, ornate design, making them easily distinguishable from other styles. They feature a harmonious blend of geometric patterns in combination with floral and vine motifs.
The rug shown here is one such Persian Serapi-Heriz, an antique piece over 100 years old in close to perfect condition.
The color palette is a complimentary mix of Rust Red, Ivory, Denim Blue, Gold, Salmon, and Sky Blue, hand-knotted with fine wool. Truly an oldie but goodie!
