4x9.1 Finest Shirvan Kazak
Shirvan is one of the primary weaving regions of the Caucasus, the rugs produced there are known for being some of the finest rugs one can acquire.
All rugs that originate in the Caucasus feature a Turkish or Ghiorges knotting technique, where yarn wefts pass over two warps of the foundation, this knotting technique was used all the way back in the 3rd centuries BCE; Shirvan rugs are usually flatly woven and dense.
This specific Shirvan Kazak is over 100 years old and features a tribal-geometric design with five medallions that run the length of the rug, accented with animal and floral motifs.
The rug has undergone one restoration process, bringing it back to its original condition; organic vegetable dyes in richly pigmented shades of red, blue, orange and gold make this rug an outstanding showpiece.
